Tameside Radio Presenter, Louise Croombs, won two silver awards for Female Presenter of the Year and Volunteer of the Year at the first ever Community Radio Awards. The award ceremony was held at the Birmingham School of Media at Birmingham City University. Louise fought off strong competition from all across the UK. Louise started at Tameside Radio three years ago as a volunteer with a one hour show on a Monday evening and now is the breakfast show presenter. Her volunteering award recognises her achievement of volunteering for over 50 different Tameside charities and groups over a year, this included Tameside Hospital and Dogs Trust Manchester. The judges were blown away by the amount of volunteering she did and said that she must ‘really know her community.’

Louise was delighted to pick up two awards and said, “I am so happy to be recognised for the hard work I have done over the past few years. I have interviewed the most wonderful people in Tameside and I want to thank them for allowing me to hear their stories and to our listeners for their support too.”

Louise was also shortlisted in the category of Best Community Programme and the judges said that they couldn’t pick between the top 5 shortlisted entries because they ‘were of such a high standard.’ You can hear Louise on 103.6 fm weekdays 7am until 11am.
